From Shadow Crypto to Crypto Agility: Turning PQC Migration into an Opportunity

Quantum computing is forcing organizations to rethink their cryptographic foundations. The transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) is not simply an algorithm change. It raises a broader question: Do organizations really know where their cryptographic keys and assets are, how they are used, and who controls them?

Cryptographic material has grown organically across on-premises infrastructure, cloud environments, applications, certificates, HSMs, and third-party services. Much like Shadow IT, this cryptographic sprawl can develop beyond centralized visibility and governance, creating significant challenges for PQC migration.

This session explores the complexity of PQC migration, from understanding its urgency and planning the migration to managing cryptographic assets across hybrid environments. It also looks at the broader drivers for centralized key management, the role of hardware-based security, and the growing importance of cloud and digital sovereignty. Finally, it explores how PQC migration can be an opportunity to address Shadow Crypto, reduce cryptographic sprawl, and build greater crypto agility.
