Unpredictable by Design: Engineering Resilience Into Modern Cyber Strategy

Attackers innovate faster than defenders can model them. That is not a temporary gap, it is the permanent condition of cybersecurity. Military doctrine accepted an equivalent truth decades ago and abandoned pure prediction in favour of hardened, adaptive defence. Security teams are only now catching up.

This session treats unpredictability as a design constraint rather than a problem awaiting a solution, and translates that posture into an operational doctrine: fortify what matters most, instrument everything, and build response capability that scales faster than attacker sophistication does. It shows why resilient architecture, redundant controls, and fast recovery outperform even the most advanced predictive tooling, and why every disconnected console adds another handoff, another blind spot, another minute of recovery time.

It closes with a maturity model organisations can use to assess how resilient, versus how predictive, their current strategy actually is.
